Tungsten in the form of pure metal and tungsten alloy has been widely used in modern science and technology, among which the most important are used in steel alloy agent, tungsten carbide based hard alloy, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature alloy.
Tungsten steel is mainly used as tool steel. One of the most important is high-speed cutting steel, its composition (mass fraction) : W8%-20%, Cr2%-7%; Where V0-2.5%; Co 1%-5%; In addition to high speed cutting steel, there are other tungsten-chrome tool steels (including W1%-6%,Cr-0.4%-2%). In addition, tungsten has a magnetic steel component.
Long widely used wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant Stellarialloy welding wire, containing W13%-15%, Cr23%-35%,Co45%-65%,C0.5%-2.7%. The alloy is used for surfacing aircraft engine valves, turbine blades, excavators and other heavily worn mechanical parts.
Tungsten is the most used in tungsten carbide based hard alloy, more than 60% of tungsten is used in the production of hard alloy. Hard alloy has a series of excellent properties, among which it has high hardness and wear resistance, especially in the higher temperature still has a high hardness.
In addition to tungsten carbide, some hard alloys, which are mainly used to process steel, contain carbides of titanium, tantalum, and niobium. Hard alloy is produced by powder metallurgy method. Hard alloy is used to manufacture cutting tools, cutting tools, tungsten alloy rotary files, drilling tools, wire drawing dies and other parts requiring high wear resistance and hardness at 1000-1100 temperature.
Tungsten also has a certain amount of use in contact alloy and high specific gravity alloy, tungsten and copper (10%-40%) or silver (20-40%) made of powder metallurgy alloy, the good thermal and electrical conductivity of copper and silver and tungsten wear resistance, suitable for the production of knife switch and other switch working parts, as well as electrodes for welding, contact welding and butt welding. High specific gravity alloys are W90%-95%,Ni1%-5%, and 1%-4% Cu tungsten-nickel-copper alloy, or iron instead of copper tungsten-nickel-iron alloy. These tungsten-nickel-iron and tungsten-nickel-copper alloys are used to make rotors for gyrocompasses, dart plates, tungsten balls for hunting, balance hammers for aircraft and rockets, radiation screens and containers for storing radioactive materials.
Tungsten metal in the form of rod, wire, plate and various forging parts used in electron tube, radio, X-ray technology, point light medical and electronic components, argon arc welding tungsten electrode and tungsten rod. Tungsten is the best material for the production of white filament. Its high working temperature ensures a high luminescence rate, and its low volatilization rate provides conditions for a high service life. Tungsten wires and rods are also used as heating elements in high temperature furnaces. Tungsten sheets and plates are used in vacuum tubes, tungsten crucible is used in the glass industry, and tungsten and tungsten molybdenum alloys are used in some parts of spacecraft and satellites!
